Family Vacation Part 1

(Picture overload just to warn you all!)

Dylan and I both agree that one of the things we want to leave our kids is experiences and memories. So with that in mind, our goal is to see the Unites States one road trip at a time. This time we chose Colorado Springs.  It was a gamble as to if the weather was going to be good for us but we decided to chance it. We lucked out and not only was it beautiful and sunny but we got to experience real snow. Lets just say, we had 3 pretty happy and very excited kids!

It was a 13 hour drove but we split it up into 2 days since this was Clint's first trip and we weren't sure how he was going to do.  Turns out he is a true Thompson and handles road trips like a pro.

What do you think the first thing the kids wanted to do when we got to the hotel was?
Swim in the indoor pool. Seriously? They crack me! We were swimming inside while snow covered the entire ground and trees outside. Dylan went outside and got a snowball and threw it at the kids while they swam. Not everyone gets to swim while having a snowball fight. :)

When we woke up Monday morning there was even more snow and the fog had lifted so we had the most incredible view of the mountains!

We bundled the kids up and went out first thing that morning. Pretty sure it was about 8 degrees outside and we didn't last very long but it was so amazing to watch the kids see snow for the first time and  get to actually play in it.

The first day we went to Ghost town museum. It is the coolest museum that is a replica of an old west town.

Then we headed to lunch at the Airplane Restaurant. It is an actual airplane built into a restaurant.  We got seated on the airplane and were the only ones in it which meant the kids had the entire cockpit to themselves to play while we waited for our food. Who thinks of this stuff? Seriously so cool!

Last, we went into the mountains so the kids (and Dylan) could play in the snow!

That concludes day one! I have so many pictures and things I want to remember that I have to break it into a couple posts! :)
