Our playdate this week was Sweet Berry Farms. I had only been in the Fall when it was the pumpkin patch, so was really excited to check it out in Spring and pick the strawberries. We choose an afternoon to bypass the field trips and crowds and we lucked out because we were pretty much the only one's there the entire time.
Carly jumped right in and started picking berries right away. She was so excited all day to go pick her own strawberries. Clay enjoyed it too but took a while to make him understand that he couldn't eat the berries until we paid for them. I know, a lot to ask of a 1 year old, so we ended up with quite a few berries with bite marks in them. Oh well... doubt it made a difference at the scale, at least I hope not.
We cooled off with some really great strawberry Popsicles and strawberry ice cream under the shade. They were so good and have inspired me to make my own Popsicles with the berries we picked. We will see if it actually happens or not.
They had goats pinned up that the kids had a really great time petting and talking to. Carly and her friend Kayden were calling them their "boyfriend" which was really awesome. I even got it on tape. Total blackmail when she turns 16.
We ended the day with a dinner trip to Bluebonnet Cafe. I have always heard the best stuff about this restaurant and have passed it to many times. I am ashamed to say I have never officially eaten there. Luckily Cari loves it and wanted to go. It really was so good. I got the chicken fried steak, and if you have ever had my moms then you know that no CFS compares, but this one was so good, practically licked my plate clean. I ordered some pie to go for Dylan and I and after eating it at home later that night, decided that it is going to have to be a fairly regular trip now. The pecan pie was so freaking good that as I am writing this blog I want to go sneak another little bite! Definitely recommend it if you haven't eaten there and are passing through Marble Falls.
I feel so blessed to have Corinne, Cari and their kids in our lives. We have been doing these weekly playdates to fun places for a few months now and I look forward to them every week as does Carly. Her whole face lights up when you talk about Kayden, "stinky" Connor (he isn't really stinky, she just calls all boys stinky) and Avery. Love Love my friends!
We had so much fun! I am so glad you loved the Bluebonnet. I have to admit I've already had 2 pieces of pie... I have a whole giant pie here so you're welcome to come have some of mine if you need more! ;)
