Galveston 2012

Every year we take a family trip to Galveston and we had to take one before Claire got here this year.  We either rent a beach house with my sisters or we just get a hotel on the Seawall. There is something about Galveston that we just love, maybe it is just familiar or the fact that it is really close to home but either way it is a favorite. We stayed at a new hotel this year and being that we went the weekend before Memorial Weekend it was not only cheap but not very crowded. The weather was perfect, the beach was warm, super clean, no fish, jellyfish or seaweed.

We got up early Friday and headed out. Carly was really excited and asked us nonstop on the way there if we were at the beach yet.

We checked into our hotel and went straight to the beach. Seriously the best I have ever seen the Galveston Beach. I actually had no problem playing in the water or letting my kids get all in it. Bub loved and I mean Loved splashing in the water and chasing the birds.  Carly was happy to get to build sandcastles and fill her water buckets up with an endless supply of water.

Then after the beach we had to check out the hotel pool. It was really awesome, with a swim up bar, live music and they even served food.

We ate dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and then hit up our favorite gift shop.....Murdochs. I think Dylan likes it because they serve alcohol and you can sit and watch the ocean but they also have the best t-shirts, gifts and toys. Carly got new flip-flops and Clay picked..........what do you think?????

Yep.....a sailor hat! Wore it the ENTIRE time we were there!

The next morning Dylan wanted to take Carly fishing and so Bub and I tagged along. Dylan and Carly caught a couple piggy perch while Bub and I watched the birds and checked out the huge amount of Jellyfish in the bay area. They were huge! A fisherman let us take pictures with a sheep head fish that he had caught.

tons of jellyfish, here is one I got a close up of.

We spent the rest of the day swimming or at the beach. We did stop to eat at our favorite restaurant: The Spot. Seriously recommend it if you ever go to Galveston. They have the best burgers and it is a really fun environment. It is always crowded though, so be prepared to wait!!!!

We had the best time, so relaxing and the kids did so good.

I was just watching Carly not believing that she is big enough to swim by herself in the pool or the fact that she is just so good. She rarely cries, or fusses and seriously just goes with the flow. She is going to be such a big help with the baby gets here.

Then you have Clay. He is the biggest mess. He attracts attention everywhere we go. Whether it is the hat he has chosen to wear or just his crazy personality he always has people talking about him and this trip was no different.

Looking forward to Galveston next year when this is finished:  Pleasure Pier! Looks like so much fun. It is located where the old Flagship hotel use to be before the Hurricane.
