We finished our first 6 weeks of school and decided that we would take a week off to learn about being a servant and about community helpers. It has proven to be a great blessing for the kids and for me as well.
We made dinner for neighbors, baked cookies for the firemen, gas men, pharmacist and librarians. We talked all about how we can be servants to others and how Jesus was a servant.
I loved watching the kids get so excited to take their treats to the different people. Carly loved making cards for everyone. She wrote, "Jesus loves you and so do we." and handed them out along with pictures of each of the people thanking them for their service.
We made treat bags for our friends classroom and were able to hand them out to all the kids. This was Carly's favorite, she loved stuffing the bags, and I loved getting to watch Carly and Clay hand the bags out to the classroom of kids. This week has definitely proven to us that giving is way better than receiving.
Burnet recently got a new firehouse and I was excited to get to see the inside. The firemen were super nice and let the kids play in the firetruck and even ran the lights and honked the horn for them.
This week has been amazing and it was nice to have a week to regroup, catch up on our shows and take naps as a family.
We even got so dirty that we had no choice but to stay outside all day and then throw our dress away because getting it back to white was almost impossible!
We even got to read our favorite books at Library story time (Pig and Elephant by: Mo Williems) and made our own elephant trunks to wear at home.
Ready and pumped to go back to School and the real world next week.
Warms my heart to see the kids doing a service project as part of school! Wish I had done more of that with Jeffrey at that age.
