Our town went back to school today and since it fell on a Monday, it was only natural to make a "Not going back to school" party to coincide with our monthly Messy Monday. We choose to do a food fight and it might have just been my favorite Messy Monday yet.
We didn't have as many kids as normal but we had such a great time. The kids really got into it and were absolutely disgusting by the end. After a few minutes of watching them I decided that I wanted in on the action. It looked like so much fun. Another one of the kids dad's joined in too. We might have had more fun than the kids.
If you want to have your own food fight I would suggest goggles. We had them on hand but got distracted and didn't wear them. My idea of pickle juice in water guns wasn't the best on the eyes, nor was mustard.

If you think it looks gross, then be glad you weren't there to smell it. I am amazed that nobody threw up. It was pretty foul and started to look like vomit after a while. Took about 3 times of washing Carly's long hair to get all the hardened food out of it. Then after we were finished and brushing it out I found a huge clump of dried mustard!
Clint had the best time hanging with the big kids. Sadly he wasn't big enough to really reach the food on the tables so was an easy target. :)
A few families stayed till the afternoon. We played in the mud pit and watched the solar eclipse together.
Homeschooling has enabled us to meet some of the most incredible families. Love doing life with these guys and love that they go along with all my messy shenanigans.
