This year for Halloween we chose to go to our church for their annual Trunk or Treat Festival. This was our first time and it far exceeded my expectations.
It was awesome! They had carnival rides, bounce houses, a huge slide, a fun house, tons of cars handing out candy and even had Phil and Kay Robertson from Duck Dynasty... OK it might have been our pastor and his wife dressed up but still awesome.
They handed out hotdogs, popcorn and drinks. We chose to eat ours on the curb before starting all the activities.
We spray painted Carly's hair again this year. I see a trend starting with Carly. For the last 3 years she has chosen a red headed character for Halloween....... Strawberry Shortcake, Fiona (Shrek), and now Ariel. The best part is she was trying to decide between Ariel, Merida and Annie, all of which are redheaded. Going to go buy out the red hair paint at all the stores!
Next we went through the Trunk or Treat line. I love how each car was decorated to glorify God. So wonderful that they were able to get the message to over 2,000 people just by handing out candy.
One of the highlights of the night for me was waiting in line for the fun house. The woman standing in front of us in line was one of Claire's NICU nurses. I loved her and it was so special to get to see her again over a year later.
I sometimes wonder where my kids get their fearlessness from. I know that at Carly's age I never would have done this huge slide all by myself but she did it and loved it. Don't think that Clay wasn't right behind her too. Both flew off their feed sack, so might not have been the safest choice Dylan and I made that night but they both had fun.
We ended the night with some "real" trick or treating. We hit up a few of our neighbors and even got to hand out candy to a few kids.
I have to say this might be my most favorite Halloween yet!
