All about Clay

This post is going to be all about the Clay Bub.

To say this kid is a character is an understatement. He is so incredibly smart, kind, already a serious follower of Christ and just amazing. He can do a 500 piece puzzle like a boss, is breezing through second 2nd grade and loves Ghostbusters and anything written by R.L Stine.

He got his first pair of skates a few weeks back and it only took him a few days to have mastered riding them in the house.

One of my favorite things about him is that he is always shirtless. He is country to the core. No shoes, no shirt and his pockets are so full that I don't know how he keeps his pants up. He has two wallets, pocket knife, odds and ends and a ton of change in his pockets at all times.

He started taking guitar lessons a few weeks ago. He has picked it up so quickly and he LOVES it. Our teacher decided to teach him to play right handed even though he is a lefty. I was a little worried about it at first but he has just rocked it. He has the most incredible memory and can have a song memorized after one lesson. Jojo is his biggest fan and always wants to be near him when he is playing.

All of his fun skating and guitar playing came to a giant halt 2 weeks ago though, when he fell off the school desks and broke his arm. Seriously surprised that this is our first real broken bone with as rough and crazy as all the kids are.

He has not let it stop him though. Before we even made it to the Ortho doctor to get it casted, I found him halfway up a tree, in true Bub style. There is no stopping him. So basically we threw away the note telling him all the things he is not allowed to do and instead have instructed him not to hurt other people with his cast.

I don't have a recent picture but he has the entire cast filled with names. He carried a sharpie around in his pocket for the first week and got every single person he knew to sign it. Neighbors, librarians, friends, family. He might be a little proud of it. :)

Oh, and don't think it stopped him from getting his blue stripe at Taekwondo last week! He was even head belt for his class that day so got to start and end class. He has come such a long way from a year ago when he started.

My favorite thing about Bub though, is how much he loves the Lord. This morning on the way to the dentist he read a passage out of his Comic book Bible about how Jesus went up into the clouds and will come back one day in the same way. He paused for a few seconds after reading it and said, "Mom I just wish Jesus would come right now. It feels like we are going to have to wait forever to be with him." I agreed, but reminded him that we have lots of work to do here still.  Telling all our friends and everyone we meet about Jesus is our main purpose and we need to do it well. He liked that answer and decided he is going to tell everyone.  I wish we all had his childlike faith. :)
