This has been a pretty eventful week. We have had field trips and fun activities all month long and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
Claire has been learning all about the letter B and Butterflies this week. We ordered caterpillars last week and have been anxiously awaiting their transformation. It worked out perfect, they emerged from their chrysalis on Friday!! Making an incredible end to our butterfly unit. I had forgotten how much fun kindergarten is.
We let them go Sunday afternoon! Claire seemed to really enjoy this unit and talking all about how God makes us new. Just like the caterpillar turning into a new creation, we turn into a new creation when we put our faith and trust in Jesus. I love how it correlates. Such an important concept and so great to teach it this way.

Our field trip this week was to the Hill Country Space Expo. It was so amazing. They had a real astronaut there that talked to us about life on the International Space Station. We learned how they sleep, eat, shower, work out and lots lots more. He was really nice and patient with all our little ones.

We got to see the inside of a space pack.
He showed us the food they eat and how it works.
They they showed us models of all the rockets. Explained how the astronauts get back to earth and all about the different kind of space suits. There is a new suit being designed that is blue and will be for the astronauts headed to Mars....... not for at least 20 years though. It was really cool to hear him say that it would be "them" wearing the suit and going to Mars. Seeing these little faces it is hard to believe that their generation will be making those discoveries. What a great dream for some of them!
They had a lot of really cool old space toys that the kids got to see, as well as a pretty impressive Lego space city.
They got to take turns on a flight simulator. Pretty sure Carly crashed hers. :)
They even got to play with Mbots. Might have to get the kids one. They were super fun.
It was a great morning but wouldn't have been complete without a picture with astronaut Dan Bursch.

This week at Taekwondo Clay was promoted to a blue belt. I can't even tell you how proud of him we are. He works so hard at home and even though he is the smallest one there other than Claire, he is a great role model and leader. I am not going to lie, I was super surprised when I came to pick him up to see that he had gotten it. The instructor had told us he would probably be a double blue stripe before he got his actual blue belt so I was shocked and just so proud. What Clay lacks in strength he makes up for in attitude and work ethic. He has 5 weeks to learn the blue belt pattern in order to compete it at the tournament in November. Excited to see him push himself to get it done.

Our last excitement was the Burnet Fire Departments Fire Safety clowns presentation. The elementary school buses the younger grades over to see it and there is a day set aside for the daycare centers and homeschoolers. We went with a few of our fellow HS friends. To say it was hilarious would be an understatement. The kids all giggled and had such an amazing time. They kept thanking me for bringing them after the show. I love that the community here is so homeschool friendly and that we have the opportunity to be involved in these programs. Carly even got picked to go up on stage for one of the songs!

Clay use to be super shy when it came to dancing or being looked at in public but that has definitely changed. He danced and sang in his seat the whole time.

Thankful for another joy filled week. We are headed out soon for a 9 day road trip. Looking forward to hiking in the mountains, learning about God and playing hard.
