This summer has already just been insane around here. I feel like June went by in warp speed and now just hoping the rest of the summer will slow down so we can enjoy it.
The kids started out with VBS at the First Baptist Church. Carly has been going now for 3 years but this was Clay's first year. They of course had an amazing time. I love getting to see them in social situations and love that they make friends so easy. We even got to bring one of those friends home with us a few days to play.
Then they did camp at our church's all day 8:30 to 5:00 camp. It is a huge production and lots of fun. Dylan got to volunteer a couple days this year which made it even more fun for the kids. I was really worried that Clay was not going to be able to hang. That is a super long day and the first time he had been away and done something like that. He did amazing though. Again they both made tons of new friends and Clay even got into some mischief. Pretty sure that is going to be the story of his life.
If all that wasn't fun enough. Claire, Clint and I all got sick. Claire ended up with pneumonia and double ear infections and Clint was just blah. Not sure what I had but antibiotics and steroids wouldn't kick it so must have been some seriously awful virus. It was a rough 2 weeks at our house but we survived and are all bouncing back. We are now getting to enjoy some pool and water slide time.
We finally replaced our awful ugly front door. It was just a plain brown metal door. We got a new one with a little window and we painted it turquoise. It is my most favorite part of the house right now. I love driving up and seeing it. Not sure if you can tell how much I love color. The more colors the better.
Clint got his first big boy haircut last week. I was so worried to get it because I didn't want him to look big. Dylan was pretty convinced that it needed to happen because he was starting to look a little like a hippy. I finally broke down and did it and I gotta say he looks so cute. Didn't even think it was possible for him to get cuter. He did so good too. He didn't make a sound or move while the barber cut it. Most hair cut places profit off of babies first haircuts. Our barber cut it, packaged it for us and then gave me a hug and said it was free. I love our small town and I love our barber. I am daily reminded that living the simple life free from the chaos of town and shopping centers is the perfect life for us.
We participated in the libraries annual Fourth of July parade around the square. Each year we have done it has been crazy with lots of kids but this year there was only 6 kids, 4 of which were mine. It was still fun and almost nice to not have the chaos. The kids even handed out American flags to people walking. It was very cool.
It has been a great June. Looking forward to July 4th holiday and getting to start swimming more now that everyone is healthy. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the break!
