Amazing little creatures

My kids just amaze me every day. Everyday I think to myself wow, you are an extraordinary human being and you are still so young. I am sure you would take my word on it but let me give you some examples just in case you have any doubts.

Our church has challenged the children to learn all 66 books of the bible. Now, I honestly thought this was a little out of control. We teach the 4 year old class and we are lucky to get the kids to remember who built the ark, so my expectations in my own children was not very high. I still made them practice a few times each day and would quiz them daily. We told them we would take them out to eat to a place of their pick if they got the OT down.

If you don't know Carly then you wouldn't know how ridiculous her brain is. She is beyond amazing at memorization and super proactive about tasks. She had the OT memorized in 2 weeks.  We took her to Taco Cabana this weekend to celebrate.

I thought Clay was still a far way off but today I heard him practicing with Carly and he went all the way to the end. I just knew that he had the paper and was reading it. Nope.... that little man has memorized all 39. Like seriously what the heck!?? I don't even know them!!! I mean how are kids so amazing? I have quizzed him randomly throughout the day to make sure he didn't just have it short term memorized and he is rocking it. Can do it on command whenever. He has picked Whataburger, so no cooking for me!! Looks like we will be rocking the burger joint tonight. ;)

Once all 66 are memorized I believe we will be hitting up Gattiland in RR. They also get a Mojo giftcard (the coffee shop here in Burnet) from the church when they can recite it.

Now on to Clay and his puzzles. We have been getting puzzles from the library and last Tuesday he got confident and got a 500 piece. He has never done one that big before and I told him I might have to help him. He completed the entire thing with zero help from anyone. As soon as he did it we got in the car drove to the library and asked them to let us keep it. I figure we have to glue it together and keep it forever. Thankfully they were awesome and told us we could keep it. He might be addicted though, he got another one today when we went. We have this puzzle table set up in our living room and I don't foresee it coming down anytime soon.
