This week we ventured out of our comfort zone (OK maybe just my comfort zone) and attended one of the homeschool functions here in town. They put on a valentines party for the younger kids at a Church in Marble Falls and I figured why not jump in and do it. I don't feel like my kids are missing out on anything being homeschooled but I do think there are some fun aspects that public school brings and all the little parties are one of them. I loved getting valentines and making my bag as a kid and want them to have some of those fun memories too.
They each got to pick out valentines from the store and then got to come up with a theme for their boxes. We spent all morning making the boxes on Wednesday. I might have had just as much fun as them!

Carly picked a castle, Claire picked Olaf and Clay of course wanted Ninja Turtles. |
The party was so much fun. All the parents were so friendly and welcoming. There was a great mix of little bitty kids all the way up to middle school and I loved watching the different ages interact. They played games, decorated little cakes and handed out valentines. Carly won "cutest box" for her age group and Clay won "funniest."

He shoved tons of candy inside his cake.... a surprise for Daddy. |
They couldn't wait to get home and go through all their valentines. Carly read each one and was so excited even though she didn't know who any of the kids were.
All in all, our first homeschool event was awesome. Awesome people, awesome kids and super awesome party. Kids were so excited and had a great time. Looking forward to many more fun outings in the future.
