My 31st birthday was this Saturday and it might be one of the best I have had in a long time. Friday we headed to Houston to stay the weekend with my best friend Candice and her husband Kris.
On the way we decided to go a little further down to Galveston and eat lunch at our favorite hamburger place, The Spot. We were going to let the kids play on the beach for a little while but after discovering that Galveston now charges you to park on the seawall we decided against it. I guess I am not too hip with the times because not only is it super crappy that they charge but in order to pay you have to download an app or call and give your credit card number over the phone. Two things that we don't really use.
I think we will be looking for a new beach trip venue from now on. Super sad. I did manage to get a few pictures of the kids with the beach in the background. Not the same but will have to do for this year.
We then headed back through Houston to Candice's house. We went swimming, ordered pizza and just relaxed. Candice bought tons of coloring books, colors, puzzles and little things of the kids to do, which was incredibly generous and thoughtful. They have a little dog that my kids were crazy about and pretty much were entertained the entire weekend.
Saturday we woke up and went to the Aquarium restaurant in Houston. It was super awesome. They had sting rays that you could feed and touch, fish and white tigers. There was even a little amusement park with a few rides. The kids had an amazing time.
The best part is they have an aquarium restaurant too. You get to watch the fish, sting rays, sharks and eels swim while you eat.
Then it was back to the house for more swimming, home cooked burgers and hot dogs and then birthday cake with ice cream. Pretty much Heaven!
Pretty sure I was completely spoiled this weekend by my BFF. We basically stayed at an all-inclusive bed and breakfast in the heart of Houston. They just bought the most amazing house and it was so nice to get to spend some time with her family and catch up. Miss her so much and just praying that one day we will be in the same city again.
When we left Sunday morning, Carly cried because she didn't want to leave. That is the sign of a successful vacation.
