March has been a pretty low key month for us. I love when we don't have tons of plans on the weekends and we can just relax as a family.
I took this picture of Dylan and Clay the other day before Church because this little man really wants to be just like his Dad. I love that he looks up to him because their really is not a better role model than Dylan. He is about as close to perfect as God makes and I love watching Clay watch him and model everything he does, even down to the clothes that he wears.
We finally got the kids new bikes. Clay didn't have one and the one we had gotten Carly was now the perfect size for Bear so we basically had nothing. The two older kids have never had much interest in learning to ride a bike. They will practice for a few minutes and then decide they don't want to do it anymore. We have never pressured or pushed them to ride and just recently both have been asking to do it. Carly still gets bored easily with it but true to Carly Sue fashion the day will come when she will just start doing it. She has always done things on her own time and ends up being exceptional at it even if she is a few years behind others her age. Bear on the other hand rides constantly. She loves anything that has wheels.
Carly decided that she wanted to cut her hair. It was all the way down her back and I was a little stressed about cutting it because it was so beautiful and long but she was pretty adamant that she wanted it short. Dylan and I decided that it was her hair and if she wanted to cut it, it was her choice. We went to Gammy's one morning for a free haircut and it turned out super cute. I love that she can brush it and clean it herself now. Does she look more grown up or is it just me?
My little Bear who was so tiny and stayed so tiny for so long is now a monster. She is already wearing Carly's hand me down size 4 clothes. Carly wore a little dress the other day that fit her other than being slightly too short. Claire decided to wear it a few days later and it fit her perfectly. What the heck! When did she get so big? I mean she isn't even 3 yet!!!
The first day that it got into the 70's we decided it was time to pull out the slide. The kids were freezing in the water but it didn't stop them from playing for close to 2 hours in it. Still the best investment we made last year!
My Dad called and asked if we wanted to borrow his incubator and hatch some chicks and of course we said YES! We have had them since Thursday and are hopeful that a few of them will hatch.
He even brought some chicks for the kids to see and hold.
School is going really good. We have finished our main curriculum for the year which is good cause the weather is officially too pretty to be stuck doing "real" school. We are reviewing stuff and trying to start the process of teaching Clay to read. We are going to take a small break when Clint comes and then start back up strong when the weather gets too hot to be outside. Still loving our decision to homeschool and so thankful for this opportunity.
Dylan and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary last week and left the kids for a relaxing weekend at the beach. We went to the beach, played putt-putt, shopped the strand and met up with my bestie Candice and her husband Kris for lunch and dinner Saturday. It was a perfect weekend getaway and much needed.
Staying home 24/7 is honestly the best job ever and I rarely need a real break. The kids are seriously so easy, they entertain themselves most days which means I get small breaks throughout the day. The idea of a weekend getaway completely kid free sounded amazing and it truly was BUT when you are with your kids 24/7 being away from them is really hard. They are part of my daily life and without them I felt slightly lost. I have to admit though, sleeping late (7:15) and not having little hands playing with my face was a highlight of the trip for me. I think Dylan really missed them too.
Was totally kicking is butt in golf, then had one bad hole and ruined it. Ugh! |
Love this girl way too much! |
Dylan new beach hat! Awesome right? |

Seriously though, I have the best husband and can't believe in less than 2 months we are going to be the parents of 4 kids. On the drive to Galveston we realized that I was the exact weeks and days as when Claire was born. I don't feel even remotely ready for Clint to be here. I still feel like he has so much time to cook, which he does. So thankful for a healthy pregnancy this time. Praying that he stays put as long as possible, though it would be nice to go on my own and get to attempt a VBAC instead of the scheduled C-section. Whatever God's plan though, I am ready!
